Need help with abusive neighbour. Police won’t do anything, not sure where to turn to.
Not sure if this is the right place to go, I guess I'm just hoping someone here knows someone or something that might help. Our downstairs neighbours have been waking us up in the middle of the night with their shouting about two or three times a month, and it's been getting increasingly aggressive. About a month after we moved in my roommate and I started noticing bruises on the woman's arms, and called the police. Unfortunately that didn't do anything, and it's only been getting worse. Last night I was woken up by the voice of the man telling someone to get on their knees and put their hands on their head or they "would be sorry". I called the police at this point for the third time since we moved in, they showed up for about 2 minutes and then left, telling the neighbours to "have a good night".
I'm really pretty appalled that they don't seem to be taking this seriously at all despite several calls, and I really don't know where to turn to get help. I've heard about ways to get someone evicted if they break certain tenant rules, is this a viable option? Should I just keep calling the police until something happens?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
